Summer '11 [Entry 1]

It's the return of the "Uh- wait- he didn't just say- what I think he said- did he?" After a little hiatus from my blog I've decided to bring it back. And not like a terrible movie equal made decades after the original. This will be a more accurate portrayal of where I am in my life as of right now: June 4, 2011 6:42 P.M. (Central). And if you must know, I'm doing pretty well. Besides that fact that I'm halfway done with college, I really don't have much bringing me down. I am really happy with where I'm at and what I'm striving to become. It took almost twenty years for my to get my morals straightened out to be parallel with my personal code. No more eating meat for me. After watching this documentary Earthlings I just can't be apart of the mass murdering of animals just so I can have a Big Mac. It's stupid. How can you play with your dog then go kill a pig? Seems ass-backwards if you ask me. I'm not gonna' try and preach anything to you guys. I'm just gonna' revive this blog to pertain to my life and what's working for me, and what's not. If some of you read this enough, and have the time to make the changes that I have, you might just feel as good as I'm feeling now. Life is great. Love is still overrated. But more on that later. Let's just take things slows with the return of the blog. If that's not a comedy-horror film yet, it should be! THE RETURN OF THE KILLER BLOG
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

My Spring Break (2011)

After leaving the beautiful campus of KU after my last class on Friday, which happened to be a nine 'o' clock A.M. class, I was set to leave for my hometown of Ballwin, a St. Louis 'zone', with my long time friend Liz who I have been going to school with since Kindergarten. No joke. So after a four and a half hour drive I was back in my home, sweet home. It was great to see my parents. And the home-cooking never tasted so good. Also that night I played drums with my brother at a bar called T.J. Wings. The next night I played drums again with my brother at a private 40th birthday party. I made some money rocking out- that's something I never grow tired of. The next day, I went and saw the movie Rango with my mother. It was alright, I would probably give it two and a half stars out of four stars. After that we went out for lunch at Mcallister's. Then on Tuesday I was up at 5:00 A.M. for a 6:25 A.M. flight. I went to my gate and noticed no one was there. So I sat down on a stool and waited for people to arrive to board the plane. Little did I know, people had boarded that plane minutes ago. So I literally sat on the stool and watched as the plane I was supposed to be on drove away and flew into the sky. I was freaking out for a little bit, but luckily the travel agent, who was a nice lady, was able to get me on a 9:45 A.M. flight and arrive in Tampa Bay, FL to visit my godmother. So I zonked out for a little bit in the airport from 6:30-9:30 A.M. I arrived in Tampa at 12:45 P.M. and was met by my awesome godmother and her awesome husband. They picked me up and took me straight to Clearwater Beach. We ate at this place called Frenchies and I had fried shrimp. This is probably too much information. So I'll make the rest short and sweet. Today, Wednesday, we went to Davis Islands where a lot of people anchor their sailboats. While we were laying out soaking up the sun, out in the water were some dolphins jumping out of the water just to dive right back in. It was so incredible! Oh, I forgot to mention that we rode bikes to get there. It was a 15 mile bike ride (round trip). Also today I learned how to tune up a bike: cleaning the chain, cleaning the tires and rims, and the bike in general. By the time we were done tuning up my godmother's bike it looked brand new! After our fun on Davis Islands we rode back home. For dinner we went to Tampa Buffet, which is an all you can eat Chinese restaurant. It was delicious but I'm afraid my belly has grown twice in size. Now we're back at the house and going to watch Monty Python's "The Meaning Of Life." I have one more full day in beautiful Florida and then it's back to St. Louis and then back to Lawrence which means back to reality. I can't say I'm missing school that much. There's something about beaches, sunny weather, and palm trees that just takes one's stress completely away. And I am forever grateful for whoever made that possible. It's been a great spring break so far and I'm gonna' be bummed out when it's all over. But you know what- I can always come back to Florida- probably when I'm retired and old. Peace & Love.
Sincerely,
Sean M. Cahill

What up world? How's everyone's Tuesday going? This week will be taking a while to get through. When you have something you look forward to (spring break) the following week, the present week just seems to slide by slowly. I wish I could write 'That's alright with me' but its really not. Don't wanna' moan 'n groan but when you add two midterms on top of that, it just makes for a long, long, long week. I shall conquer it though. Just like I plan to conquer many things. Which reminds me. I wanted to write about accountability today. It's so easy to blame someone else for your problems, misfortunes, or scenario. But when it comes down to it: It's your life. You gotta' do what you gotta' do. And I know that sounds simple and dumb, but that's really what it comes down to. Sure, the ones we surround ourselves with is vital in success. But really, it comes down to you. Do you have what it takes to beat out all the rest? Do you have it in you? That IT is a pretty big one. If you want to make a change, you have to be that change. Sound familiar? It should. No more laziness. No more blame game. It's all about you. Being accountable for you and your actions is partly what makes a good human being. One you can trust. And trust is important. This may sound simple and repetitive but I think it is a message all should know. Not just know it- live it.  Just think about it.

Words Of Wisdom From A Weasel Like Me

The world has a lot to offer. We can take from both baskets. The good and the bad. The positive and the negative.  Certain circumstances lead us to either one or the other. Yet we have the power within ourselves to make the best (or worst) of a situation. Never let it slip your mind that at any given time you can turn around. We have the power to return to our roots. Don’t let the roots of others tangle you within something that you are not. This just leads to your life becoming a hoax. We are not hoaxes. Never be convinced of the hex. Question everything. Believe no one. Trust yourself. Live within yourself not through others or worse, the materialistic world surrounding you. Don’t be convinced of the social stigmas. There is no dogma. You set your own rules. And let them be rules of positivity, health, love, kindness, compassion, and empathy. Everyone’s life will come with burdens. But just as a rainbow appears after a rainstorm, so must it be with the troubles of life.  It is impossible to love without ever feeling hate. It is impossible to be selfless if you have never been selfish. Clouds create lightning. Crowds create conformity. Know what it is that you are passionate about and let that passion drive you through life. Soon you will find love & happiness all around you. Success is futile in life. It is all about love, passion, and compassion. If you take only a few things from this reading let it be this: always look for the good basket and take from it, know your passions and go forth with it, and finally, love your earth and your fellow humans. Imagine if this were to be put forth throughout the entire world. The world would have way more to offer. And as we all know, the world already has a lot to offer. (Look around.)

I love you all,

Sean M. Cahill

Live from St. Louis- It's Tuesday Morning (blog time) Live! What to write about? What's on my mind? What have been up to since I've landed in St. Louis? Not a whole lot actually. Saturday night (the night I got here) I played drums with my brother at this bar and made some money in tips. I'll being doing about the same thing tomorrow night. I went to church on Sunday like every good Catholic does. After 11 'o' clock mass me and my parents helped load truck loads of presents for less fortunate people in low-income areas around Missouri. Monday I just laid low. I've been playing a lot of Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the Wii. It's a fun game, I would check it out. Last night I chilled with one of my good friends (& neighborhood homie) and we just were catching up on stuff like what all our high school friends are up to these days. Today I went to a dermatologists to get this red mark under my eye taken care of. I've had it there ever since Jr. High, and it turns out that makes sense because the mark is due to hormones. Hormones and Jr. High go together like spaghetti and meatballs.  I hate meatballs. I also hated middle school. What are the odds? So yeah, I had laser treatment done right under my eye and now there is a bruise because they killed all the tissue that the mark was on. So hopefully the tissue/skin grow back normal and there's no mark on my face. I'm on a big John Lennon phase right now. I've been listening to his music, listening to interviews, looking at pictures, and enjoying the fact that The Beatles will always be the best band ever. Speaking of good bands- I've been really enjoying Japanese rock a lot lately. This band called "Toe" is amazing. Good math rock / instrumental stuff. Another great Japanese artist is this musician named Cornelius. He incorporates all these sweet sounds into his music. I would check out both bands if you're trying to broaden your horizons... which is always a good thing. Looking forward to Christmas Eve and all the festivities. Not looking forward to getting my wisdom teeth pulled out on Monday- but at least I'll have some meds to hold me over. It's funny, I really am growing tired of this blog, but once I decide to add an entry I find myself filling it up with things to write about. That's a good thing I suppose. But I just feel like this whole thing is getting repetitive. Oh well, whatever, never mind. If I still feel this way in 2011, maybe I'll do something about it. But for right now, I'm gonna' go chill. I'm on vacations ladies.
